Diana Meyer was Mrs. NY American in 2021. She didn't get there by her own grit and perseverance. (Though that did help.)

She had mentors. Several of them.

That is a distinguishing factor about successful people that we talked about: not every mentor is going to bring you to your end goal. Some may just be a step on the way forward.
